How It Works

What Does an Odor Look Like?

Odors come in many different forms and structures. Understanding the seven types of odors helps explain why our activated carbon technology is so effective.

  • Musky - Perfume/Cologne
  • Ethereal - Paints/Stains
  • Putrid - Rotten
  • Floral - Perfume, Rose Scents
  • Pungent - Body Odor
  • Minty - Peppermint
  • Camphoraceous - Camphor/Herbal

The Science Behind It

Where Does This All Fit In?

You do not need a degree in Organic Chemistry to see that all of these chemical structures (one for each of the seven odors) are very different.

Odors, whether good (aromas) or bad (malodors), come from a wide variety of different natural and synthetic sources.

Most scent control products try to mask, treat or kill the bacteria causing body odor. That is only one small portion of the different odors out there.

01
Adsorption
Adhesion of atoms or molecules to a surface
02
Activated carbon
It creates a huge surface area for adsorption to occur.
03
Like sponge
Think of it like a sponge with many different voids and pockets
04
Trapping Molecules
Activated carbon doesn't just hold onto things — it traps odor-causing molecules deep in its pores.
